Final Design Trials - Photoshop Work

To investigate and develop my ideas even further, I chose to produce the line drawings that I have previously posted, Line Compositions, to refine those pieces even further and to try and investigate whether those compositions would work in photoshop, like I thought they would when I was producing the compositions.

This is what I produced/developed further from the line drawings that I had previously drawn out:

As you can see, I have compared the line drawings alongside the photoshop pieces that I have produced, replicating the line drawings; however in a more sophisticated, refined way.

So, firstly, I created the line compositions by selecting my resources from certain primary images that I had gathered throughout my project and I had a list of key features that I wanted to include within the compositions. I then produced the compositional arrangements on paper, as I wanted the key features to stand out and those were, the layering that would be created by overlapping the different images that had influenced by project throughout the journey. Also, I wanted translucency to be one of the main factors that caught the audience's eye, as once I produced the compositions in photoshop and also on paper, it allowed certain images to be shown behind and infront of one another; however you were still able to indicate what the image was underneath, meaning that the images overlapped, yet they were able to show through to the second layer. This was expecially important to the meaning behind my project, as it showed a hint of something that'd gone before, such as youth and old, as once youth has prevailed, old starts creeping in and dampening the time that one has left to enjoy memories, meaning that the layers within both the compositions and the photoshop compositions acted as a deeper meaning; however it means that the images that overlap and the image that is showing through underneath, symbolises that memories never fade and that they always show through.

The artists that link to these compositions are certain artists that bring things through the skin, enabling different images to become layered up, with the second layer showing through. Alberto Seveso, Adrien Donot and Jennifer Healy all do this within their work and these artists are shown in this post: Artists.

I felt that it was important to start off with fine art work, i.e. the paper compositions and then use that as a starting point to then develop those pieces further.
